Practice areas and cross-cutting themes: Introduction & corporate documents

About DevLink | General development |  Corporate documents |

This section is mainly intended for newly-appointed JPOs, but may also be of interest to those who were tasked with handling new portfolios or would like to learn more about other UN/UNDP practice areas. It provides key links to websites/documents broken down by theme. It does not pretend to be exhaustive and tends to offer links to introductory or more specialised websites.

The section is divided into eight thematic groups:

The first six groups correspond to UNDP's strategic areas of focus. Gender/Women Empowerment is a cross-cutting issue for both UNDP and UNFPA, whereas the last group focuses on UNFPA programme priorities.

About DevLink

DevLink is a recently-developed site managed by the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) to provide substantive support to United Nations Country Teams (UNCT) in the implementation of the Secretary-General's reform package, particularly the Common Country Assessment (CCA) and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).

It currently covers five UNDG priority topics: Human Rights, Poverty, Gender, Girl's Education and HIV/AIDS. Each page on these topics provides UNDG policy guidance, examples of good practices, training materials, sources of additional information and links to relevant UN and non-UN sites.

DevLink is one of the major links proposed in the present section of the JPO website. In January 2002, the UNDG Support Group has agreed to further improve and expand DevLink as UNDG's website for substantive support to UN Country Teams.

General Development
