3rd JPO Workshop - Antigua, 5-9 May 2003
| Evaluation | Participants | Agenda, presentations, speakers |
The third Regional JPO Workshop (hosted by the Guatemala Country Office) took place
in Antigua, 5-9 May 2003. 16 JPOs working for UNCDF, UNDGO, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF and WFP participated.
11 resource persons facilitated the sessions and made various presentations (available online).
In line with the previous two Workshops held in Nairobi and Kuala Lumpur, the location was
chosen primarily to attract JPOs in the region (New York and Latin-America & the Caribbean).
This Workshop had a prevailing theme - a common thread which ran through the
agenda and linked the discussions. For this event the theme was:
"Deepening democracy in a fragmented world". You may recognize that this was the theme
of UNDP's Human Development Report 2002. With such an all-encompassing theme, it was hoped to
create a focus for the Workshop which runs through all of your programme areas and also
links with the Millennium development goals.
At the same time, and in response to the evaluation responses which came from many of the
JPOs who attended the previous two Workshops, it was hoped to make this a more interactive event,
giving more weight to group discussion than presentations. By breaking into working groups,
JPOs were offered the opportunity to relate their own work areas and experience to the theme.
