Programme Policy and Operations Induction Course

UNDP is currently in the process of revamping the Programme Policy and Operations Induction Course it offers to its JPOs, to make it more efficient and focused on the information JPOs need at this stage in their assignments. The PPO Induction Course is now 1 ½ week long and it continues to be held at Headquarters in New York.

It is strongly recommended that JPOs with UNDP, or its affiliated funds and programmes (UNCDF, UNDOCO, UNIFEM and UNV), and with UNOPS attend the course within the first 3 to 6 months of their assignment. The course should, however, be attended within the first year only for it to be effective.

The curriculum focuses on strategic, macro-level issues, UN/UNDP policies and development trends, including individual meetings with key counterparts in relevant areas of their work.

The next PPO course will take place on the following dates:

  • 30 August to 8 September, 2010

Consolidated list of NYC accomodation: hotels, apartments, etc. (short and long terms)

UNFPA induction training

The next UNFPA induction training will take place from 12-16 July 2010.

Consolidated list of NYC accomodation: hotels, apartments, etc. (short and long terms)

UNRWA induction training

The UNRWA induction training takes place in Amman. Dates of the training will be communicated to new JPOs directly by UNRWA.

Other organizations induction courses

UNIDO and WHO organise similar induction trainings for their JPOs.
