Newly-appointed JPOs or JPOs that are about to travel for a mission/holidays may wish to get vaccinations and travel medical and security advice at the following links:

    Taking note of recent crises, such as natural disasters and attacks of hotels, as well as pandemic planning, and in order to strengthen security coverage and support for United Nations personnel as they perform UN official travel, the Inter-Agency Security Management Network expanded the use of ISECT to include not just countries/locations with a Security Phase in effect, but all countries/locations to which staff travel on official business, including official home leave or other entitlement travel where the cost of travel is absorbed by organizations of the UN System. This step was taken to ensure that security support can be provided to you in the event of an unforeseen crisis.

    A Security Clearance is required wherever a Security Phase is in effect in the country or location to be visited, irrespective of whether your travel is to an area with a higher, lower or the same security phase.

    A Travel Notification is required when you travel to countries or locations with no security phase in effect. It is critical to understand that you have a responsibility for ensuring your own safety and security and that obtaining a security clearance or processing a travel notification is one of the most important steps required before you embark on UN funded travel.
