Purpose, functions and services
Based on the model of the UNDP thematic practice network, and building on one of the main expectations of the JAA members, the JAA-Net is intended to strengthen knowledge-sharing and cross-fertilisation activities among the members of the JPO Alumni Association.
For the sake of efficiency, the JAA-Net is a moderated mailing list: when a member sends a message to the group (jaa-net@groups.undp.org), it goes to the facilitator first before being forwarded to all members. This allows the facilitator to ask the person who is sending the message for any clarifications that may be needed, etc. If many messages come in on the same subject, it may also be more efficient to consolidate all related messages into one message in order to avoid sending too many individual messages to the members. Please note that the text of submitted messages will not be edited in any way.
There are several functions of the network which include the following:
- responding to queries and referrals from network members;
- sharing and commenting on case studies, best practices, experiences, ideas and other activities;
- announcing upcoming workshops, conferences, useful links and other information.

How to post a message?
If you want to send a message to the JAA-Net, please address it to:
jaa-net@groups.undp.org
When sending messages, it is always helpful to provide in the “subject” field a detailed description of the issue being raised. When you respond to a message, please keep intact the subject of the original message. (Headings are indeed crucial as many members receive a large number of emails every day and would like to quickly determine whether a message is of interest to them. Commonly used headings include QUERY, INFO, and FOR COMMENTS.)
Please also remember that by hitting the reply button when answering to a message, your e-mail automatically goes to all members. If you want to answer someone individually, retype his/her e-mail address.
To make sure that the JAA-Net is efficient, the following guidelines should also be observed:
- Messages should be concise and as much to the point as possible.
- You should remember to include your name, location and title/position in your message.
- Please do not bring up a new issue for discussion when you contribute to a specific discussion or respond to a query. Instead, if you have a new query or issue for discussion, please send this in a new, separate message.
- Avoid posting large attachments. Try to circulate zipped files only.
- Please be polite and keep long bilateral discussions off the network.
How to read previously posted messages?
In order to read the JAA-Net messages archived in the Lyris server, please follow the following three-step instructions:
- Click on the following link:

- Enter your password
You should then be automatically directed to the archives.
How to unsubscribe?
If you want to remove yourself from this mailing list, please send a blank email to:
