UNRWA is pleased to advertise the following position in Jerusalem, open to Dutch and other EU nationals, as well as permanent residents of the Netherlands.


UNDP and affiliated funds/programmes are pleased to advertise FOUR JPO positions to be funded by the Government of the Netherlands.

The following two positions in UNDP Guatemala and UNDOCO New York are open to Dutch and other EU nationals, as well as permanent residents of the Netherlands.

The following two positions in UNDP Dakar and UNIFEM Khartoum are open to nationals from eligible developing countries (please see specific conditions below)

Timeline

The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 midday (Copenhagen time) on Monday 30 August 2010.
Interviews are expected to take place end September/early October 2010 by telephone or video conference. Only candidates short-listed for interview will be contacted.

Please note that all selected candidates must be prepared to take up duty before the end of 2010.

General Conditions


Duration of Assignment: Initial appointment of one year, renewable up to a maximum of three years.

Grade/Step: Subject to the assessment of relevant education and years of relevant experience prior to appointment, and to satisfactory performance during the assignment, the remuneration of selected candidates will be as follows:
EITHER at P-1/1, P1/2 and P2/1 during first, second and third years respectively;
OR at P2/1, P2/2 and P2/3 during first, second and third years respectively.
 
All Candidates must:
  • Have completed a study relevant to international co-operation concluding in a university degree at M.Sc./M.A. level; or a study relevant to international co-operation concluding in a degree at B.Sc./B.A. level, followed by a minimum of three years of working experience;
  • Be committed to the UN values, highly motivated, professional, have good interpersonal skills and be able to adapt to a multi-cultural environment;
  • Be fluent in English and possess a working knowledge of at least one other UN language or be fluent in both English and the working language at the duty station as appropriate. Fluency in other UN languages can be an asset and may be tested in the interview along with English;
  • Only apply for positions in a duty station outside their country of origin;
  • Not have worked previously as a JPO/APO/YPO/AE.

The Dutch JPO Programme in numbers

For further information on the number of JPOs financed by the Netherlands and administered by the UNDP JPOSC please refer to the Facts and Figures section.

Requirements

To be eligible to apply to the Dutch JPO Programme, candidates must:

  • Have completed a study relevant to international co-operation concluding in a university degree at M.Sc./M.A. level; or: a study relevant to international co-operation concluding in a degree at B.Sc./B.A. level followed by a minimum of three years of working experience;
  • Be committed to the UN values, highly motivated, professional, have good interpersonal skills and be able to adapt to a multi-cultural environment;
  • Be fluent in English, Spanish or French (according to the language of the duty station) and possess a working knowledge of at least one of the other two. Fluency in other UN languages can be an asset and may be tested in the interview;
  • Not have worked earlier as JPOs/APOs/YPOs/AEs ; and
  • Only apply for positions outside their country of origin.
In addition to the General conditions listed above, candidates from eligible Developing Countries must fulfil the following conditions:

Candidates from the Netherlands, candidates with permanent residence status in the Netherlands and candidates from other EU Member States are to be regarded as 'Dutch' candidates. They can therefore only apply for positions under the Dutch 'quota'.
