Field Offices: presentation and links

As of 1 June 2008, 73% of the JPOs are assigned to duty stations in 91 developing and Eastern Europe countries (please also visit our Facts & Figures section).

While meeting the needs of the UN country offices and of the recipient countries, the Programme offers to JPOs a major opportunity to gain field experience as well as direct exposure to the specifics of the multilateral work in development.

The choice of the duty stations is based on several criteria, among which are the JPO's qualifications and preferences (academic background, language proficiency, knowledge/familiarity with the country/region, spouse employment opportunities), the requirement of the country office (academic / language / work experience), as well as the donor's priorities.

Basic information on and links to the UN Country Offices' websites in developing countries where JPOs work/are about to be assigned are available by clicking on the country's name in the drop-down menu below.
