  • A section containing most-frequently used acronyms of various origins: United Nations programmes or agencies, multilateral organisations, but also frequently used administrative abbreviations, was added.
  • A JPO Service Centre hotline, dedicated to current JPOs, has been established.
  • Figures regarding the JPOs in the UNDP LEAD Programme were added in the Stats section.

July 2002:

  • 24 July 2002: launch of the new UNDP brand!
    Coinciding with the launch of the Human Development Report 2002, the new UNDP brand is much more than a new logo. It's about what UNDP stands for as an organisation and clearly communicates how the agency works. Click here to know more.
  • The Stats section now groups key figures about the JPO Programme and the JPOs.
  • A Regional JPO workshops section groups core documents related to the first regional JPO Workshop that took place in Nairobi, 27-31 May 2002.

  • a database of current JPOs. This database is updated monthly, so the newcomers will have to be patient :-)
  • a database of former JPOs. You have access to the database of former JPOs consisting at the moment of 1,149 names. We estimate that at least 30% of all the JPOs who went through the system since the inception of the JPO programme in mid-sixties have now been captured.
  • a database of former JPOs who are current UN staff members. This database groups already 280 names. All records can be filtered by gender, name, nationality, post grade, etc.
  • all documents and forms that could be of interest for the JPOs are now available in the Circulars and Forms section.

Inauguration of the UNDP JPO Service Centre

Mr. Jan Mattson

The JPO (Junior Professional Officer) Service Centre has completed relocation from UNDP Headquarters to the UN/ UNDP Nordic Office in Copenhagen and became fully operational. The official inauguration was held on 6 November 2001 in the presence of Mr. Jan Mattsson, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau of Management, and of the representatives of 16 out of 19 participating donor.

In an effort of UNDP to realign business processes and reposition its services to bring them closer to its clients (the country offices, the JPOs themselves and the donor community) the Bureau of Management's Office of Human Resources (OHR) had decided to move the JPO Service Centre to Copenhagen.

Launch of the JPO Service Centre Website (pilot version)

Dear Colleagues,

The official inauguration of the JPO Service Centre was held on 6 November 2001 in the presence of Mr. Jan Mattsson, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau of Management, and of the representatives of 16 out of 19 participating donors.

On this occasion, the pilot version of the JPO Service Centre website was launched. It aims at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the services delivered by the JPO Service Centre and will lay the groundwork for an electronic platform, which will optimise, streamline and simplify the whole range of administrative support provided by the JPO Service Centre. The website contains well over 1,000 links and can be accessed at the following addresses: http://www.jposc.org.
