    June 2004:

Message from Mr. Vitaly Vanshelboim, Deputy Director, UNDP Nordic Office, and Chief, Staff Administrative Services:

A very good day to you,

I'm pleased to inform you that, following extensive consultations, the following two decisions have been made by OHR:

    • Effective immediately, JPOs will be allowed to apply to all internal positions at UNDP after 15 months of service as a JPO. As you know, heretofore, the respective eligibility requirement was 6 months prior to the completion of assignment. This change will effectively give 3 extra months to apply to those JPOs who are funded for two years and even more extra time to those JPOs who are sponsored by their respective Government for more than 2 years. By extension, all JPOs will soon be eligible (once we've taken care of the technicalities) to store their CV online in our JPO talent roster (at www.jposc.org , go to Databases/Rosters - JPO CV/Talent Roster), as soon as they have served for 15 months.

    • JPO eligibility to apply for the LEAD programme will no longer be restricted. From now on, all JPOs will be eligible to apply for the LEAD programme at any time during the JPO assignment.

Both amendments will soon be reflected on OHR intranet site.

We hope that these decisions will enhance career opportunities for JPOs and further improve the JPO retention rates.

    Best regards,
