60th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Every 10 December the world remembers the extraordinary accomplishment on that day in 1948 when all the nations came together to sign the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

UN Launches E-Learning Initiative in Over 160 Developing Countries
16 UN organizations agreed to establish UNeLearn, a UN-wide learning network inspired by the UN "Delivering as One" concept to maximize coherence and effectiveness at the country-level.

 

HIV and AIDS Online Data Hub Launched
The first-ever one-stop online resource hub providing comprehensive and easy-to-access HIV and AIDS data in Asia and the Pacific was launched on 4 December 2008.

On 24 October 2008, The Hellenic Republic signed an agreement with the UNDP to become the 23rd donor country participating in the UNDP Junior Professional Officer Programme.

 

Online Ethics Training Course
Mandatory for all UNDP colleagues, this course explains important aspects of the UN Code of Conduct and provides guidance on basic ethical dilemmas. Remember to take it by Dec. 2008!

 

New Participating Agency: United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC)
The JPOSC now administers the UNSSC JPO Programme. System-wide learning institution, the Staff College focuses on Peace and Security, Development Cooperation and UN System Training.

The MDGs interagency course has been launched: it focuses on the origins of the MDGs, the roles of UN organizations and the global, regional and national implementation processes.

 

United Nations Development Operations Coordination Office (UNDOCO)
On 1 June 2008, UNDGO took a new name to more closely reflect the core of its work - providing support for the effective coordination of the UN's operational activities for development.
