Career ManagementResults of the 2009 JPO, Donor and Organization Surveys are online!We are proud to announce that the satisfaction rates continue to be very high, .i.e. JPOs are generally satisfied or very satisfied with their assignment, 74% and results testify the continuous excellent administrative follow-up provided by the JPOSC with 94% of the respondents are either satisfied or very satisfied. JPOs with US Permanent Residence
Following the contractual reform and in compliance with the General Assembly's decision, staff members of the United Nations who hold US Permanent Residence status are required to relinquish their US Permanent Residence status before appointment. The principle established by the General Assembly was based on the consideration that international officials should be truly representative of the culture and personality of the country of which they were nationals and that those who selected to break their ties with that country could no longer claim to fulfill the conditions governing employment with the United Nations. Rana AndersenThe JPOSC is very pleased to announce that Rana Irshaid Andersen joined the team, as Human Resources Associate. She will be administering the appointment of JPO serving in New York, Brussels, Bonn and Copenhagen. Rana has 7 years of experience with UNDP, and has HR extensive experience working with UNDP offices in Arab States, Africa, as well as HQ locations. She was one of the first group of HR officers who participated in the establishment of the Benefits & Entitlements (BES) Unit in Copenhagen. She holds a degree in Architecture and is in the process of finalizing a second degree in International HR Management and Development.

In an historic move, the United Nations General Assembly voted unanimously on 2 July 2010 to create a new entity to accelerate progress in meeting the needs of women and girls worldwide. Dual Nationality with US nationality
For JPOs with dual nationality and with US nationality in particular there a few issues to pay extra attention to.
The Unites States Government has not exempted its nationals/permanent residents from taxation on their United States income. This means that JPOs holding US nationality or a US permanent residence status may be required to pay income tax on UN emoluments and it is the personal responsibility of the JPOs to ascertain and meet the liabilities under US federal, state and income tax laws. e-Mentoring
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new e-Mentoring Programme.
JPO Mentoring Programme
The objective of the JPO Induction e-Mentoring Programme is to support new JPOs assigned to UNDP in taking up their assignment. The Programme will match new JPOs with experienced JPOs in their second or third year of the JPO assignment, Special Assistants to the UN Resident Coordinator (SARCs), or current UNDP staff members who were recently JPOs. It is the intention that experienced current JPOs, SARCs, or former JPOs will mentor new JPOs during the first six months of their assignment.
